30 years is a long time

I have worked for the same company for 30 almost 31 years. I know in this day and age that is almost unheard of. I fell into a job there right out of high school and the benefits were so good that I just stayed. Of course a lot can happen in that amount of years and of course those wonderful benefits aren't so wonderful anymore, but are still better than what most newbies will be offered starting fresh. Tonight I went to a retirement gathering of one of the people I have know for most of my time there. He is a quiet man, a nice guy all around. I am glad for him that he can now just do whatever he wants with his days but sad that he is one of the few remaining oldies left. So I have learned the definition of Bittersweet, happy yet sad. When I retire in 5 years time who will be left that will remember me from way back when? Sad huh?
